What's ahead:
Another system for coming up with a flywheel of highly targeted content ideas, changing up your sales copy to emphasize your offer's benefits, and why choosing hard now can actually make your life easier in the long run

Hello, hello!

We're still just cranking along over here! We're putting the finishing touches on a new website and onboarding sequence for Teachery (new website for Wandering Aimfully is on the roadmap this summer too!), plus some exciting new changes to our monthly coaching format for WAIM Unlimited.

This year is shaping up to be a big transition year for us. It feels like we're planting seeds to set ourselves up for the next five years, which can be both daunting and satisfying at the same time.

Our focus lately has been leaning into gratitude and trying to take things a little more slowly as we enjoy this beautiful spring weather. Hope you're able to do the same. Now let's get to it!

Email your audience to see what they're struggling with

👨🏻‍🦲 👋: Last week, Caroline 👩🏻‍🦰 shared our Prompt Pantry 🚪 content creation idea with you. This week, I wanted to share a very simple “content hack” that has worked wonders over the years to generate an ongoing flywheel of valuable content requested by your target audience.

The tactic: Send a dedicated broadcast email to your entire list and keep it extremely short, with the main question: “What are you struggling with in [insert your industry] right now?”

For us, the example email we’d send would look like this:

Hey there! Just popping in your inbox today with a very simple question that should only take you a few seconds to hit reply and answer:What's ONE thing you're struggling with in your online business right now? There’s no wrong answer! (And feel free to send more than one thing.) By hitting reply, you'll be allowing me to better help you with that struggle through future email and social content.

*When you write this dedicated email, just be sure to replace “online business” with whatever your niche is.

It could be Canva, digital planners, etc OR the question could be phrased as service-based biz owners to your target clients (ex: “What are you struggling with most when it comes to getting more leads from your website?” if you were a web designer, for example.)

Then, feel free to stash all the responses in a simple Google Sheet or Notion Page for future reference.

Now, I realize this is not going to be groundbreaking. However, I promise if you do it, you will get incredibly interesting responses AND you will feel inspired to create content because you'll see exactly how your expertise can make an impact!

This simple trick will help you create a more predictable system for coming up with content ideas, especially if you make it a point to send an email like this every quarter or every 6 months.

🌟 My challenge to you: Send this email sometime this week and if you do, reply and let us know how it goes 😎. (Seriously, you can put this together in less than 15 minutes and you'll be so glad you did!)

Translate your product features into benefits for a more compelling sales message

👩🏻‍🦰 👋: When launching an online offer, it's natural to want to highlight all the perks:

  • 10 hours of content!

  • Live office hours with me!

  • Bonus interviews!

  • Worksheets, templates, discounts, oh my!

These are the features—what customers get when they buy. But nobody wakes up thinking, "I need office hours!" What they really want is guidance in their business.

Office hours are just a means to an outcome.

That's the difference between a product feature and a product benefit. The feature is the tangible thing they get; the benefit is how it improves their life.

Focusing solely on features in your sales pitch is not going to drive sales.

Take our program, WAIM Unlimited. We intentionally link each feature to the deeper emotional benefit it provides.

For example, our accountability program is fun, but the benefit is that it helps you accomplish more so you can feel momentum in your business.

Instead of telling you the ins and outs of our Un-Boring Business Roadmap (a feature), we share why it’s helpful: you walk away from it with more clarity on exactly what to work on in your business.

So, right now, I want you to look at your sales page, your emails, or your social captions—wherever you mention your paid offer.

Ask yourself: Am I being clear enough about translating the features of my offer into the benefits my customer receives?

It’s a subtle yet powerful shift that can make all the difference in resonating with your audience and driving conversions.

The Easy Paradox: Why "choosing hard" now is actually the easier path

👩🏻‍🦰 👋: Let me share a little revelation I've had recently—one that's made a big impact on my daily life.

About a month ago, I made the decision to work with a fitness coach to boost my gym consistency. Now, three times a week, I do the hard thing of lacing up my workout shoes, showing up at the gym and facing the challenge of a tough workout that I'd never push myself to do alone.

But now that I’m five weeks in, I’ve realized that embracing that momentary struggle three times a week has made so many other aspects of my life "easier."

For starters, I'm sleeping better, which means more energy and improved focus throughout the day. Plus, I feel more emotionally regulated, so my anxiety stays in check, which means I'm not battling my mind while trying to move about my day.

I've dubbed this phenomenon "The Easy Paradox"—because let's be honest, labeling something as a paradox instantly adds gravitas, right? 😅

This principle extends far beyond the gym. Choosing the hard path now—tackling paperwork, facing difficult conversations—actually sets the stage for future ease.

Conversely, and here’s the real revelation, opting for the easy route now often leads to added hurdles down the line.

Take dinner choices, for example. When I go for the quick and convenient option, though it might seem appealing in the moment, it often leaves me feeling sluggish and unfocused, which makes the following day harder on me.

Sure, having the discipline to leave my phone off an hour before bed is hard. But when I choose the easier route of giving in to ten minutes of phone time before bed, falling asleep is way harder.

So, lately, whenever I encounter a task that feels right but a little daunting in the moment, I remind myself of the long-term benefits. I say to myself:

Choosing hard now is an investment in future ease.

So, join me in shifting our focus from short-term motivations to long-term thinking. Here's to embracing the paradox and making life a little easier, one hard choice at a time!
